everything about how wait.money works: installing, what earns, what it pays, and when you can cash out. the numbers below are the real terms, not vague promises.

1 · install

one command. it adds a small sponsored line to your Claude Code status line and changes nothing else. your old settings are backed up and restored byte-exact on uninstall.

curl -fsSL https://wait.money/install.sh | sh

then link your account so your balance is saved: run waitmoney login in your terminal and sign in with Google. unlinked devices can still accrue, but holds clear faster on a linked account.

2 · how the money works

advertisers pay per 1,000 verified impressions, starting at a $1 base. they can bid above the base to rank higher. the top five bids serve at any time; your client rotates them weighted by bid, so the highest bidder gets the most minutes and smaller bidders still appear.

  1. while Claude is actively working in your terminal, the line shows an ad and the server verifies roughly one impression per campaign per minute. an idle terminal earns nothing: no in-flight request, no credit. you do not have to click, search, or do anything beyond your normal work.
  2. one verified impression is worth the campaign bid divided by 1,000, scaled by the model actually running: opus-class counts full, sonnet and haiku count a quarter, an unrecognized model counts zero. you keep your founding share of that, 100% for the first 1,000 earners, tapering to 50% by the 10,000th and locked for life; the rest funds the network.
  3. a credited opus-class impression pays you the bid divided by 1,000, times your founding share. founding earners (the first 1,000) keep the full amount, $0.001 per impression at the $1 base, tapering to 50% by the 10,000th earner. as advertisers bid the line up to rank higher, the same minute pays more; the live bid board on the home page is the real-time price.

anti-abuse caps (per account): 60 credited impressions per hour, 300 per day, one credit per campaign per 60 seconds, and one earning session at a time. if you actually click a sponsored line, the click pays 50x the impression price, up to 5 clicks per day, held for a 7-day review before it clears.

3 · held vs cleared

every credit starts as either cleared (spendable at payout) or held. credits clear when your account looks like one real human: signed in with Google, a residential connection, one machine per account, used across a few normal days. signals like data-center IPs, VPNs, or many accounts on one machine put credits on hold at a reduced rate until review or until your trust recovers. advertisers are only ever billed for cleared credits, which is why the held state exists.

4 · payouts

balances accrue now and stay attached to your account. the market and payouts open once 10,000 earners and 50 advertisers have joined: minimum $5, a one-time identity check at your first payout (anti-fraud, not before), a 7-day holdback on fresh credits, gift cards first and cash after. nothing you earn before payouts open is lost.

5 · privacy

the client structurally cannot read your code, prompts, file paths, or Claude's responses: the telemetry schema has no field that could carry them, and the server rejects unknown fields. the full list of what is sent is in the privacy note.

6 · pause or remove

waitmoney pause for a break, waitmoney uninstall to remove everything and restore your settings exactly as they were.

7 · pricing (for advertisers)

your rate is set by how early you join: the first 10 advertisers lock $1.00 per 1,000 verified impressions, and every next group of 10 is $0.10 more, up to $1.90 for advertisers 91-100. from the 101st advertiser the standard rate is $2.00. your cohort's rate is locked for 12 months. at $1.00, $10 buys about 10,000 impressions.

  1. bid higher to rank first. the base gets you on the board; bidding above it moves you up. the top bids deliver first, and when a leader spends out the next moves up, so a higher bid buys traction sooner. your bid sets rank, not how many views you get.
  2. targeting a country costs 2x. running global is the base rate; narrowing to specific countries (premium, higher-intent attention) prices at twice the base.
  3. you pay only for real impressions. every billed impression is verified and fraud-filtered server-side. idle terminals, bots, VPN and data-center traffic, and repeat machines do not count. no cleared impression, no charge.
  4. clicks cost 50x. if a developer clicks your line through to your URL, that click is billed at 50x a single impression (still capped and reviewed for fraud).
  5. the developer shares in it. the developer whose machine showed your ad keeps their founding share of every dollar you spend, 100% for the first 1,000 earners, down to 50%. you buy attention from real people, and they share in it.

pay in ₹ (UPI, cards, netbanking via Razorpay) or USD (Dodo, which handles tax, VAT and GST globally). fund and place a campaign at /advertiser.
